Adventures of a SuperMom - Celebrating My Mother

It's Mother's Day weekend, and while it's been ages since I've had the time to post on my blog, I thought it would be suiting to refresh What Would Jane Do by celebrating everything that's meaningful to me about my mother.

As all of us will tell you, who live far from home and see family infrequently, it makes you come to better appreciate your family and those you call your loved ones. It can be hard not seeing those faces, hearing the laughter, or holding face-to-face conversations the way you used to, and yes, the nostalgia can be overpowering. My mother, in particular, has always been someone I could rely upon, making it even harder not to have that luxury of walking in the door every day to simply say hello.

There are many words that could be used to describe my mother: Crazy. Unforgettable. One of a kind. Best friend. A shoulder to lean on. A comfort at low points, and the loudest cheerleader of them all at the high points. Through every experience I've had in my personal and professional life, I've never forgotten how far and how much my parents have been there to push me on, love me, and always, always, always support me.

I like to think that every day is Parent's Day, be it a celebration of one's mother or father, or any significant other. Because even when it's not a nationally recognized holiday, there never comes a day when I love my parents any less.

These occasions simply serve to remind us how important these people are to our lives, and how easy it is to take them for granted.

So, this weekend, even though I can't be there in person to celebrate everything I love about my mom, I hope that she knows I'll be there in spirit. This video below is simply another way to reiterate that.

Here's to you, Mama. xoxoxo
