Jane Austen Meets The College Crush

I never thought I'd see the day when I was writing about college relationships and love advice. Or more specifically, writing about love as it applies to a Jane Austen novel. Who knew the two could be such complements of each other? Certainly not me. Especially when you consider the fact that I am the LAST person who should be dealing out any sort of relationship advice. My mother even said so.

Not so long ago, though, The College Crush and the fabulously funny Kira Sabin walked in to my life and changed my mind.....

After a few conversations about our mutual obsession with Jane Austen and all things British, Kira had me reevaluating my position. As a self-confessed old soul, the idea of discussing 18th century relationships and applying them to the modern dating scene had me hooked. Sure, I may not have a vast amount of applied dating experience, but that doesn't mean I don't possess life experience. It also doesn't hurt that I have a desire to relate Jane Austen to every facet of life.

Jane's more modern than even I thought
Long story short, my articles for the The College Crush began to come together. I like to think it may have been Jane subconsciously pushing me in that direction. Or maybe it was just that Kira was so hilariously convincing and insightful that I didn't stand a chance of resistance.

Even if you aren't a diehard fan of Austen like myself, I'm hoping you at least enjoy the articles. There are so many universal themes and messages from her novels that continue to make Jane relevant to the modern world--and not just in the romantic/relationship sense. I have to admit, though....analyzing Austen characters in regards to relationship potential is such a blast. I owe The College Crush big time for helping me to realize that!

Here is my most recent article for them. It's a new series titled Holding Out For A Heartbreaker and it's focused on the Jane Austen "bad boys." You can find more of my work on the site as well.
